Baked Chicken Parmesan

A comforting and classic dish featuring crispy chicken coated in breadcrumbs, topped with marinara sauce and melted cheese.

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 eggs
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for drizzling
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a shallow bowl, combine the breadcrumbs and grated Parmesan cheese.
  3. In another bowl, whisk the eggs and season them with salt and pepper.
  4. Dip each chicken breast in the egg mixture, allowing excess to drip off, then coat it with the breadcrumb mixture.
  5. Place the coated chicken in a baking dish and drizzle lightly with olive oil.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes until cooked through and the coating is golden brown.
  7. Remove from oven and top each piece with marinara sauce and shredded mozzarella cheese.
  8. Return to oven and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  9. Garnish with fresh basil and serve immediately.

Notes

For extra crunch, toast the breadcrumbs before coating. Ensure even thickness of chicken breasts for uniform cooking.
