Bang Bang Shrimp Tacos

A delightful blend of crispy shrimp and vibrant flavors wrapped in soft tortillas, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb large shrimp
  • 1/4 cup cilantro
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • 3 cups purple or green cabbage
  • 1 medium tomato
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 3 tsp Sriracha hot sauce
  • 3 tbsp Thai sweet chili sauce
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 3/4 cup corn starch
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • Peanut oil or canola oil (for frying)
  • 8 small white corn tortillas
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk

Instructions

  1. Start by marinating the shrimp. In a mixing bowl, combine the buttermilk, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Add the shrimp to this mix and allow it to marinate for about 15-20 minutes.
  2. While the shrimp is marinating, prepare the bang bang sauce. In another bowl, blend together the mayonnaise, Sriracha, and Thai sweet chili sauce until smooth and well-combined. Set it aside for later use.
  3. Once the shrimp is marinated, coat it in corn starch for that crispy texture.
  4. Heat oil in a pan over medium-high heat and fry the shrimp in batches until they turn golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  5. In a large serving bowl, toss together the cabbage, chopped tomato, and cilantro to form a fresh topping.
  6. When you’re ready to serve, lay some of the cabbage mixture on a tortilla, top it with fried shrimp, and generously drizzle the bang bang sauce over it.
  7. Serve immediately and enjoy the burst of flavors!

Notes

For leftovers, allow shrimp to cool before refrigerating in an airtight container. Keep toppings and sauce separate and consume within 2-3 days.
