Warm, gooey cinnamon rolls topped with sweet cream cheese frosting, perfect for brunch or a cozy treat.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk, heated to 110°F
  • 2 + 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 large room-temperature egg
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter, divided
  • 4 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour, plus 2-4 tablespoons for dusting
  • 6 tablespoons softened butter
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 4 tablespoons softened butter (for brushing the rolls)
  • 4 ounces softened cream cheese
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together warm milk, active dry yeast, egg, 1 tablespoon melted butter, granulated sugar, and salt.
  2. Incorporate the all-purpose flour, adding more if the dough feels sticky until smooth.
  3. Knead the dough for about 3 minutes until smooth and cover with plastic wrap to rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
  4. Prepare the cinnamon filling by mixing softened butter, brown sugar, and ground cinnamon in a bowl.
  5. Roll the dough into a 17×10 inch rectangle, spread the cinnamon filling, and roll it up along the length.
  6. Slice the rolled dough into 8 pieces and arrange them in a greased 9×13 pan, cover, and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F, brush rolls with remaining melted butter, and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  8. While cooling for 15 minutes, prepare the frosting by mixing softened butter, cream cheese, vanilla extract, and powdered sugar until smooth.
  9. Spread the cream cheese frosting over warm cinnamon rolls and enjoy!
