Ingredients
1 pound ground beef
4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
1 onion, chopped
2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 cup milk
Salt and pepper to taste
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef along with the chopped onion. Drain any excess fat.
In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together the cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
Grease a baking dish and layer half of the sliced potatoes at the bottom. Top with half of the ground beef mixture, and half of the cheese. Repeat these layers.
Pour the combined soup mixture evenly over the top.
Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is bubbly and golden.
Allow to sit for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
Serve with a light side salad or steamed vegetables. A dollop of sour cream on top adds flavor.
