Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1/2 cup colored sugar or sprinkles for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a small bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate large bowl, cream together the butter with the white and brown sugars until you achieve a smooth texture.
  4. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, ensuring that each is well incorporated before adding the next. Stir in the vanilla and almond extracts for an extra flavor boost.
  5. Gradually blend the flour mixture into the creamed mixture until fully combined.
  6. Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls and arrange them on ungreased cookie sheets, spaced apart.
  7. Flatten each ball gently using the bottom of a glass, then sprinkle with colorful sugar or festive sprinkles.
  8. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven or until the edges are golden brown.
  9. Allow the cookies to cool on wire racks before serving.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. Freeze cookies or dough for longer storage.
