Creamy Beef Pasta

A comforting one-pan creamy beef pasta dish perfect for weeknights, featuring penne, ground beef, and Parmesan.

Ingredients

  • 8 oz penne pasta
  • 1 lb lean ground beef (90/10)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the penne and cook according to package directions until al dente. Drain, but reserve 1 cup of the pasta cooking water.
  2. While the pasta cooks, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add diced onion and cook until softened and translucent (about 4–5 minutes).
  3. Stir in minced garlic and cook for 30–45 seconds, until fragrant.
  4. Add ground beef to the skillet. Cook until browned (6–8 minutes). Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
  5. Reduce heat to low. Pour in heavy cream and stir to combine. Add reserved pasta water as needed to reach desired sauce consistency.
  6. Stir in grated Parmesan until it melts and the sauce becomes creamy.
  7. Add drained penne to the skillet and toss until well coated.
  8. Serve hot with extra Parmesan and chopped parsley, if desired.

Notes

For a lighter sauce, use half-and-half; for a vegetarian option, substitute plant-based ground beef or crumbled tempeh.
