Crockpot French Onion Meatballs

A comforting dish that combines sweet, caramelized onions and juicy meatballs, all simmered in a rich French onion soup for a gourmet experience that’s easy to prepare.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 packet onion soup mix
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 can French onion soup
  • 1 cup mozzarella or Gruyere cheese
  • Fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, onion soup mix, bread crumbs, and egg. Mix until well-blended.
  2. Shape the mixture into meatballs, roughly 1 inch in diameter.
  3. In your crockpot, pour in the French onion soup, creating a flavorful base.
  4. Gently place the meatballs in the crockpot, ensuring they are submerged in the soup.
  5. Cover and cook on low for about 240-360 minutes (4-6 hours), or until the meatballs are thoroughly cooked and tender.
  6. Before serving, sprinkle mozzarella or Gruyere cheese on top of the meatballs and cover until melted.
  7. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired, then serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

For added flavor, consider sautéing the meatballs before adding them to the crockpot. This caramelization enhances the depth of flavor.
