Easy Christmas Cookies

Festive and customizable cookies perfect for holiday celebrations, easy enough for bakers of all levels.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 ½ cups (312g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • Decorations (sprinkles, icing, etc.)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract, ensuring everything is well combined.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry blend to the wet ingredients, mixing until combined.
  5. Using a tablespoon, drop rounded amounts of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, leaving enough space between each dollop for spreading.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  7. Allow cookies to cool completely before decorating with sprinkles or icing.

Notes

For best results, ensure butter is softened properly, not melted. You can chill the dough for thicker cookies.
