Low Carb Philly Cheesesteak Casserole

A delicious low-carb twist on the classic Philly cheesesteak, perfect for a hearty dinner without the carbs.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs ground beef (80/20 fat ratio preferred)
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 2 large bell peppers, diced (green, red, or mixed)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 8 oz provolone cheese, sliced
  • 1.5 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and spray a 9×13 baking dish with non-stick spray.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and bell peppers. Sauté for 5-6 minutes until they begin to soften.
  3. Add the minced garlic and stir for another 30 seconds, being careful not to burn it.
  4. Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it up with a spatula. Season with salt and pepper. Cook for about 7-8 minutes until browned and no pink remains.
  5. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce. Reduce heat to low and add the softened cream cheese, mixing until smooth.
  6. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish. Layer provolone cheese over the beef mixture, followed by shredded mozzarella.
  7. Bake for 22-25 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly. Allow to rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For extra cheesiness, increase the mozzarella amount or use a combination of cheeses. Casserole can be customized with different meats or added veggies.
