Paula Deen’s Southern Peach Cobbler

A comforting Southern peach cobbler featuring juicy peaches enveloped in a flaky, buttery crust.

Ingredients

  • 1 large can (29 oz) sliced peaches in heavy syrup
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup self-rising flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup whole milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Combine the sliced peaches (with their syrup), sugar, cinnamon, and flour in a large mixing bowl. Add the milk and stir until just mixed.
  3. Place the butter in a baking dish and melt it in the oven while preparing your batter.
  4. Pour the batter over the melted butter—do not stir it!
  5. Bake for about 45 minutes, or until it turns golden brown and bubbly.
  6. Serve warm, preferably with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

For a dairy-free option, substitute whole milk with almond milk and use a dairy-free butter alternative.
