Homemade Green Sauce

A vibrant blend of tomatillos, cilantro, and spices, perfect for dipping or as a condiment.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Tomatillos, fresh
  • 1/2 cup Cilantro, fresh leaves
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 Serrano pepper, chopped
  • 1/3 cup White onion, chopped
  • 1 tbsp Lime juice, fresh
  • 1 tsp Sea salt, fine
  • 1/4 tsp Cumin, ground

Instructions

  1. Husk and rinse the tomatillos, then slice them in half.
  2. In a saucepan filled with boiling water, add the tomatillos and let them simmer for about 5 to 7 minutes, until they’re soft.
  3. Once softened, remove the tomatillos and allow them to cool slightly.
  4. In a blender, combine the softened tomatillos, cilantro, minced garlic, chopped serrano pepper, white onion, lime juice, sea salt, and cumin.
  5. Blend the mixture until it reaches a smooth consistency, or until you achieve your desired texture.
  6. Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning if necessary.
  7. Serve it right away with tortilla chips or use it as a condiment for your favorite Mexican dishes.

Notes

For a smoother consistency, blend longer. Adjust the spiciness by varying the amount of serrano pepper.
