Saltine Cracker Candy

A delightful combination of salty and sweet, quick to prepare and perfect for gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 60 Saltine crackers
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • Optional: chopped nuts, sea salt, or sprinkles for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange the Saltine crackers in a single, even layer.
  3. In a saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar over medium heat, stirring continuously until the mixture blends together and comes to a gentle boil.
  4. Carefully pour the melted butter-sugar mixture over the arranged Saltine crackers, spreading it evenly with a spatula.
  5. Bake in the oven for about 5-7 minutes or until the mixture is bubbling.
  6. Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle the chocolate chips over the top.
  7. Let the chocolate melt for a few minutes, then spread it evenly across the brittle layer.
  8. If desired, sprinkle additional toppings like nuts or sea salt.
  9. Allow the candy to cool completely before breaking it into pieces.
