Saltine Cracker Candy

A delightful sweet and salty treat combining crunchy Saltine crackers with caramel and chocolate.

Ingredients

  • Saltine crackers
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • Optional toppings (chopped nuts, sea salt)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil for easy cleanup. Arrange the Saltine crackers in a single layer on the sheet.
  3. In a saucepan, combine the unsalted butter and brown sugar over medium heat. Stir continuously until the mixture comes to a boil, then let it boil without stirring for 3 minutes.
  4. Pour the caramel mixture over the crackers, spreading it evenly so that all the crackers are coated.
  5. Bake in the oven for about 5-7 minutes, or until the mixture is bubbly.
  6. Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle the chocolate chips over the top. Let them sit for a few minutes until they melt, then spread the chocolate evenly over the caramel.
  7. Add any optional toppings you desire, like chopped nuts or a sprinkle of sea salt.
  8. Allow the candy to cool completely before breaking it into pieces for serving.

Notes

For best results, use unsalted butter for better control of saltiness. Make sure to monitor the caramel closely while boiling to prevent burning.
