Smothered Cheesy Sour Cream Chicken

This smothered cheesy sour cream chicken combines creamy sour cream and gooey mozzarella for a comforting weeknight meal that everyone will love.

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (divided)
  • 4 slices mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Arrange the chicken breasts in a single layer in the prepared baking dish.
  3. In a bowl, combine sour cream, 1/2 cup Parmesan, cornstarch, oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper, stirring until smooth.
  4. Place a slice of mozzarella cheese on top of each chicken breast.
  5. Spread the sour cream mixture evenly over the chicken breasts.
  6. Sprinkle the remaining Parmesan on top.
  7. Bake for about 60 minutes until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  8. Allow to rest for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For a deeper flavor, marinate the chicken in spices for an hour before cooking. Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
