Smothered Chicken

A comforting dish featuring succulent chicken thighs in a rich, creamy sauce, perfect for family dinners.

Ingredients

  • 4 chicken thighs
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Optional: chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken thighs generously with salt and pepper.
  2. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chicken thighs, browning them on both sides until golden brown. Remove the chicken and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the chopped onions and minced garlic. Sauté until the onions are translucent and fragrant.
  4. Sprinkle the flour over the onion mixture and stir continuously for about a minute to eliminate any raw flour taste.
  5. Gradually pour in the chicken broth, stirring continuously until the sauce begins to thicken.
  6. Mix in the heavy cream and return the browned chicken to the skillet.
  7. Cover and let simmer for approximately 30 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through and tender.
  8. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

For a richer flavor, sear chicken skin-side down first. Pair with rice, mashed potatoes, or bread to soak up the sauce.
