Spinach and Ricotta Stuffed Shells

Comforting jumbo pasta shells filled with creamy ricotta and fresh spinach, enveloped in zesty marinara sauce.

Ingredients

  • 16 jumbo pasta shells
  • 2 cups of fresh spinach, chopped
  • 1 cup of ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup of mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup of Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups of marinara sauce
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon of Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the jumbo shells according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine spinach, ricotta cheese, mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, egg, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  4. Stuff each pasta shell with the spinach and ricotta mixture.
  5. Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bottom of a baking dish.
  6. Place the stuffed shells in the dish seam-side up, and pour the remaining marinara sauce over the top.
  7. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  8. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  9. Garnish with fresh basil and serve warm.

Notes

For best results, cook shells only until al dente; they will continue cooking in the oven. Feel free to substitute ingredients based on preferences.
