Steak and Cheese Rice

A hearty and comforting dish that combines tender steak with creamy cheese and fluffy rice, perfect for busy weeknights or family gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb sirloin steak
  • 1 cup queso cheese (Monterey Jack or cheddar)
  • 1 cup long-grain white rice
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 bell pepper, diced (any color)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare all ingredients by dicing the onion and bell pepper, and mincing the garlic.
  2. In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Sear the sirloin steak for about 4-5 minutes per side until it develops a nice, brown crust. Allow the steak to rest before slicing it into thin strips.
  3. In the same skillet, add the diced onion and bell pepper, sautéing for about 3-4 minutes until softened.
  4. Stir in cooked rice and sprinkle in paprika, cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until heated through.
  5. Gradually fold in the queso cheese, stirring continuously until melted.
  6. Combine sliced steak with the cheesy rice mixture and serve hot, garnished with fresh cilantro, sour cream, and avocado slices.

Notes

For maximum flavor, marinate the steak in spices for an hour before cooking. Experiment with different cheeses and vegetables for variety.
