Winter-Themed Cookies

Deliciously sweet winter-themed cookies, perfect for holiday gatherings and cozy evenings.

Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 3 to 4 cups powdered sugar
  • Milk (as needed for icing)
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Decorative sprinkles or edible glitter

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a small bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
  3. In a larger bowl, cream together the softened butter and white sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg and the extracts of vanilla and almond.
  5. Gradually blend the dry ingredient mixture into the wet ingredients until combined.
  6. Roll the dough into balls and place them on ungreased cookie sheets, flattening each ball with the bottom of a glass if desired.
  7. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly golden.
  8. Allow to cool on the baking sheet before transferring to wire racks.
  9. For icing, mix powdered sugar with milk until smooth, adding food coloring if desired, and decorate cookies. Finish with sprinkles.

Notes

Consider adding spices like cinnamon or nutmeg for extra warmth. Store cookies in an airtight container for up to a week or freeze for longer storage.
